This was written by one of my besties, whose daughter was born nearly seven weeks early and was very tiny. As of the time these pictures were taken, she only weighs 4 pounds 4 ounces. She is little!
"As many of you know, our daughter was born early (33 weeks+5 days) and came home after 20 days in the NICU. Keeping preemies warm is especially important because we want every available calorie to go toward weight gain. Alice outgrew many of her preemie-size footie pajamas early on because many brands (i.e. Carter's) are only 17" long. She was 17" at birth and was 18.5" when she came home. At 5 weeks old, she is only a bit over 4lbs. and still much too small for most brands' newborn size. We have been dressing her in preemie clothes, but bare feet have been problematic. We have mostly relied on blankets, but she kicks her feet out from under them. Regular socks (0-3 mos and newborn) were ridiculously large on her and she kicked them off easily, as well. Preemie socks are expensive online and impossible to find locally. We finally found a solution that works: preemie booties made by my friend at Krafts By Kim. They have little ties that help keep them on without being too restrictive and they're adorable! I know some of you have/had preemies too or maybe you know someone with a small baby and are looking for a gift idea? Look how sweet these are!"
